Project Management

Problem Solvers – Clients bring problems to NMI, and NMI finds a way to solve the problem. Whether Design hurdles, Fabrication roadblocks, or Installation challenges, NMI Industrial thrives on problem solving. From management to millwright, the NMI team personifies outside the box creative thinking, raising NMI head and shoulders above the average industrial contractor. And, it's ingenuity and mechanical know-how, honed by hard work, that allows NMI professionals to anticipate industrial problems before they develop.

Talented In-house Team

A diverse in-house talent pool assures NMI clients that the manpower required is available. This also insures that NMI's rigorous and successful Safety Standards are achieved.

NMI Industrial has the internal resources to provide integrated turnkey industrial project management. Because NMI is large enough to provide a wide range of industrial services, absolute control over projects is achievable. NMI is staffed by experienced personnel dedicated to the coordinated project control that brings jobs in on schedule and on budget. And, NMI personnel are dedicated to creating a safe working environment for employees and clients.

Scheduling

All estimating and scheduling is done by members of the project team. Purchasing is done in-house, and NMI's deep personnel resources mean that larger crews can be dedicated to projects on shorter notice. The consolidation of major purchases and quantity buying results in a cost savings (better pricing) for the client, as well as faster completion schedules.

Computer-based scheduling and manpower charting allows NMI managers to stay on top of project progress, status, and completion dates. When the scope of a project changes, project managers can make accurate calculations of the resulting effects.

A dedicated personnel department can find the right combination of skilled professionals for every industrial construction need, in the shortest possible time. NMI's accounting system was developed for maximum functionality and flexibility – able to create reporting and billing for clients in the format, frequency or level of detail required.

Project Management Engineers

  • Construction Budget
NMI engineers work with the estimating department to update the budget at the end of the schematic engineering phase, and assist in refining this estimate for the client's approval. If it appears that the project construction budget will not be met, they will make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Coordination of Contract Documents
NMI engineers develop a system of recording document progress and changes throughout the engineering stage. Drawings and specifications are reviewed as they are prepared, and alternatives are recommended whenever details affect construction feasibility or schedules.
  • Long-Lead Items
NMI engineers recommend for purchase the procurement of long-lead items, to ensure their delivery by the required dates for installation or construction use.
  • Purchasing/Expediting
NMI engineers assist the Purchasing Department in the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment for the project.
  • Scheduling
NMI engineers develop a detailed project engineering schedule to coordinate with construction's efforts, as well as the client's priorities. The schedule incorporates realistic activity sequences and duration, the allocation of labor and materials, the processing of shop drawings and samples, and delivery of long lead time items.
  • Value Engineering and Constructability
NMI engineers attend regular meetings with the client's engineering department during conceptual and preliminary design. During these, they advise regarding on-site use and improvements, and the selection of materials and equipment. They provide recommendations related to construction feasibility, availability of materials and labor, time requirements for installation and construction, and factors related to cost – including alternative designs or materials, preliminary budgets, and possible economies.
