About Us
History
NMI Industrial is a privately held company established in 1973. When current owner Scott Chastain began his apprenticeship as a union millwright in 1984, he could not know that one day he would successfully lead one of the largest industrial contractor firms in Northern California. It was his leadership and attention to quality, often exceeding customer expectations, that motivated NMI management to steadily promote Scott – first to Foreman, then General Foreman, and eventually to General Manager of the Mechanical Division, in charge of estimating and operations.
In 2000, Scott had the opportunity to buy the company and implement his vision: an industrial company with strength, speed, quality and scale – doing whatever it takes to get the job done right. He would need help, so he assembled a potent management team, bringing in talent from other companies to develop a premier industrial Design • Build • Install team unprecedented in Northern California. Scott hired General Managers for the Electrical Division, Processing Design Division and Aggregate Division. Then he moved NMI to its current location which features a 50,000 sq. ft. fabrication facility and over two acres of additional yard space.
Looking Forward
NMI thrives on challenge and uncharted territory. Drawing on Prototype and Specialty Products expertise, NMI is working closely with local venture capital firms and other businesses to "bridge the gap" between product idea and industrial scale production. Recently, NMI has partnered with Velocity Venture Capital and Wind Power to manufacture a low-wind turbine for commercial office buildings. No matter what the industrial invention or prototype, NMI can Design • Build • Install it, successfully bringing it to market.
What Sets Us Apart
Though NMI has the horsepower to "do-it-all" – turnkey Design • Build • Install – we can also work with a client to perform any phase or stage of a stand-alone project as required. If a customer has already designed a project for example, NMI can handle just the fabrication or just the installation, working directly with the client's team. We can do all project's phases, or perform any one phase separately.
